Kay Tope
I came to the conclusions that we are more than just our physical bodies and there is more to our existence than can be explained by the five senses normally accepted by our culture. I continue to be involved in paranormal investigation in an effort to document proof that consciousness exists after the death of the physical body and to document proof of sentient consciousness outside of that which our culture considers to be normal.
I joined CASPR because my beliefs about what constitutes paranormal evidence are in alignment with those of the group's Director, Karen Shillings, and because I enjoy the camaraderie of professional people who share my interests. It is my firm belief that all possible normal causes for potential paranormal evidence should be investigated and ruled out before findings are called paranormal. Having been involved in paranormal investigation for a number of years, I feel an obligation to be a part of a group that attempts to disseminate reliable information about paranormal activity.
Due to the current popularity of paranormal investigation shows on television, many paranormal groups have been formed by people who have no experience with or education about paranormal activity. Their information is gleaned from websites put up by folks with no background or experience in paranormal investigation. One day, these folks picked up a digital camera, took photos of dust or a reflection, called these photos paranormal evidence, put them on a website, created a group, and presented themselves to the public as Paranormal Investigators.
Today, it seems that many Paranormal Investigators only want to document and experience paranormal activity for themselves. They have no interest in helping people understand and cope with unusual experiences. Due to my personal experiences, I understand what it is like when paranormal events intrude upon everyday life. People often feel isolated and afraid because they think there is no one with whom they can discuss their experiences. As a Paranormal Investigator, I feel I have an obligation to help people understand and come to terms with frightening or unusual occurrences. I believe being a part of CASPR offers a unique opportunity to assist and educate the public about the paranormal realm. |
